QUEEN And DEEP PURPLE Concerts To Hit Big Screen This Month

April 10, 2008

Two of the world's most ground-breaking and memorable concerts will be shown on theatre screens across the country for an exclusive, one night-only engagement on Monday, April 28, courtesy of The Bigger Picture, the alternative content distribution division of Access Integrated Technologies, Inc.

In November 1981, with "Under Pressure" topping the charts in the UK, QUEEN arrived in Montreal following dates in Japan and their record-breaking tour of Latin America. It was to be the only concert by QUEEN that was ever shot on film. Always a great live band, with arguably the greatest front-man of all time in Freddie Mercury, they excelled themselves with the cameras rolling. The picture has been digitally restored from the original film and the sound has been newly mixed and mastered for DTS Surround Sound and PCM Stereo from the original multi-track tapes.

Few bands are more closely associated with Montreux than DEEP PURPLE and there was simply no other contender when it came to choosing the act to headline the closing night of the 40th Montreux Festival in 2006. The band duly delivered one of their finest live performances, sprinkling songs from their latest album "Rapture Of The Deep" through a set chock full of their classic tracks. There was even a brand new song "Too Much Fun" written especially for the occasion and, of course, a show-stopping performance of "Smoke On The Water".

These two historic concerts, digitally re-mastered, will instantly reach millions more across the country through The Bigger Picture's nationwide movie screening, which offers the highest quality picture and sound available in DCI-conforming 2K digital cinema.

"Fans of QUEEN and DEEP PURPLE have an unparalleled opportunity to experience these not-to-be-forgotten live concerts in their local multi-plex with beautiful digital cinema sound and picture," said Jonathan Dern, Co-president of The Bigger Picture. "There is nothing like feeling as though you have the best seats in the house and fans shouldn't miss it!"

This unique movie engagement provides fans with an unparalleled opportunity to see and hear QUEEN and DEEP PURPLE up close and personal.
